Your pathway to arts board leadership.

About the Program

ArtsWave’s Boardway Bound is an acclaimed board leadership program for area professionals who are passionate about making a difference. This one-of-a-kind leadership development and placement program prepares participants for arts board service.

Since 2004, ArtsWave has trained and placed more than 400 individuals on the boards of Cincinnati arts organizations, changing the face of leadership and adding capacity to our cultural institutions and creating boards that represent the diverse communities each organization serves.

The 2023 Boardway Bound program will run October 19 through December 7, 2023 and there will be a virtual information session on May 9 at Noon.

Who should apply?

All backgrounds and career stages are welcome. All you need is a desire to make an impact on the arts!

Participants may have limited board experience but seek professional development in governance and best practices. Some participants have served on boards in other fields and desire more in-depth knowledge of the issues unique to nonprofit arts. Others are new to the region and are looking to make lasting connections.

ArtsWave encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply. Together, we can ensure that the programs and practices of the region’s arts and cultural organizations are reflective of our entire community.

2022 Class Graduation

The 2022 Boardway Bound class celebrated their graduation with participating arts organization leadership, alumni and ArtsWave staff on March 16 at The Carnegie in Covington, KY. Graduates and guests enjoyed a dynamic panel discussion, led by Cincinnati Councilmember Reggie Harris, probing the topic of "Why Art [Matters], paneled by Rebecca Nava Soto, Lynn Meyers, and Tysonn Betts. These social and networking experiences are one of the reasons Boardway Bound has found success. In addition to the training and matching with an organization, the class provides a lasting network of local leaders who are making an impact on our community through the arts. Join us for our next class!
